Configure COGS in Mable
Last updated: June 30, 2026
Why COGS Are Required
Before Mable can calculate Contribution Margin 1 (CM1), you first need to configure your Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
COGS data serves as the foundation for:
CM1-based Custom Events
Profit optimization in Google Ads, Meta, and TikTok
Profit reporting in Google Ads, Meta, and TikTok
Without COGS data, Mable cannot calculate CM1.
Create a COGS Sheet
COGS are managed in Mable under:
Store Settings → Cost Input
Click Generate COGS Sheet to create a Google Sheet.
The generated sheet is automatically populated with all products and variants from your Shopify store.
Once the sheet has been created, click Open Sheet to access it.
Each time you open the sheet, Mable automatically syncs it with Shopify in the background. Any new products added to Shopify will be added to the sheet automatically.
Enter Your COGS Values
In the generated sheet, enter your product costs in Column C ("COGS") for each SKU.
For each product, enter the actual purchase or manufacturing cost per unit.
Product | SKU | COGS | Currency |
|---|---|---|---|
Product A | SKU-123 | 12.50 | EUR |
Product B | SKU-456 | 7.21 | EUR |
The more accurately your COGS are maintained, the more accurately Mable can calculate your actual contribution margin.
⚠ Important:
- Enter COGS values using the US number format (for example, 1.5, not 1,5).
- Google Sheets must recognize each value as a number. Values stored as text cannot be synchronized.
- If no COGS value is provided for a SKU, Mable treats the product cost as €0 by default.
Sync Your COGS
After adding or updating your COGS values, synchronize the sheet with Mable.
In the Mable Dashboard, click: Sync Sheet
💡 Tip:
Whenever product costs change or new products are added, update the COGS sheet and sync it again to keep your profit calculations accurate.
